Do you know your farm liver fluke status?

Blood samples from 10 first season grazing calves or lambs can be a useful tool to determine flock status and guide treatment timing. Evidence of exposure can be detected as early as 2 weeks after ingestion, helping to confirm the presence of fluke on farm and to help guide treatment timing.

Dung samples can be checked at the practice for fluke eggs, but these will only be present 10-12 weeks after fluke exposure but coproantigen testing of dung samples can identify fluke earlier.
